City teachers OK 1-year pact that includes $1.5M in insurance concessions

YOUNGSTOWN — The city schools teachers union has approved a one-year contract with changes to the health insurance aimed at saving the district money.

Stephen Stohla, interim superintendent, said this morning that the change is expected to save between $1.5 million and $1.8 million.

The city school must still approve the changes, but Stohla pointed out that the board authorized him to negotiate the pact.

"In my opinion, the credit goes to the union and to the school board," he said.
