The MTV Video Music Awards are tonight and — not surprisingly — Taylor Swift is the top contender with 10 nominations. Here is a quick look at how last year’s VMAs turned out:

v Video of the Year: “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus

v Female Video: “Dark Horse” by Katy Perry, feat. Juicy J

v Male Video: “Sing” by Ed Sheeran

v Pop Video: “Problem” by Ariana Grande, feat. Iggy Azalea

v Rock Video: “Royals” by Lorde

“Show Me a Hero” (8 p.m., HBO): David Simon’s provocative miniseries about racial conflict and politics in 1980s Yonkers, New York, ends tonight with two more hours — and hopefully a few more Springsteen tunes.

“Sunday Best” (8 p.m., BET): Season 8 concludes.

2015 MTV Video Music Awards (9 p.m., MTV): Two years ago, Miley Cyrus caused an uproar with her naughty twerking. Now that she’s back to host the 32nd annual bash, will she behave herself — or push the envelope even further? As for the nominations, Taylor Swift leads everyone with 10, including Video of the Year.

“Air Jaws: WALKING WITH GREAT WHITES” (9 P.M., DISCOVERY): Oh, great — now they can walk, too?

“Attic Gold” (9 p.m., DIY): People find dollars in the old junk overhead.

“The Missing Evidence” (9 p.m., Smithsonian Channel): The premiere episode of this unsolved mystery series looks at Jack the Ripper.

“Falling Skies” (10 p.m., TNT): It’s the end of the line for “Falling Skies” as the sci-fi action series calls it a wrap. We can only hope that Noah Wyle and his pals can reclaim Earth and save humanity once and for all.
