SENIOR SIDELIGHTS

Lord of Life Church, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield, will host a Gathering Place event at 11 a.m. Sept. 14. Jeanette and Preston Hess will talk about their organization, Seniors Helping Seniors, and a light lunch will be provided. This is a free community outreach social program offered to all senior citizens, which takes place on the second Monday of each month. Games and activities are offered. Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., is partnering with Mercy Health to offer free health screenings from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 18 at the center. Rashaun Speed, R.N., will administer blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings. An 8-hour fast is recommended. Registration is recommended by calling the center. Sept. 22 will be a casino trip to Mountaineer; cost is $22 with $25 in slots. The bus departure will be at 8 a.m. and return will be approximately 4:30 p.m. Payment is required with reservation.
