3rd annual Orthodox food fest is coming

HERMITAGE, PA.

The third Annual Orthodox Food Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 19 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 20 at St. George Serbian Grounds, 65 S. Keel Ridge Road. The public is invited.

Parking donations will benefit the Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Christian Academy and Pre-school in Warren.

Food celebrating Orthodox Church cultures will be available including Serbian: roasted lamb, pork and grilled cevaps; Greek: gyros and stuffed grape leaves; Romanian: roasted chicken and mititei; and Ukrainian: pirogi, stuffed cabbage and haluski. There will be music, refreshments, pastries and church tours.

Food and beverages will be available in the hall and in the pavilion. A basket auction will take place in the hall, and the nuns from the Greek Monastery will sell items from their bookstore. All food items are available for take out.

Ukrainian Festival set for Sept. 27

AUSTINTOWN

The Ukrainian Festival, sponsored by St. Anne Ukrainian Church, 4310 Kirk Road at the corner of Kirk and Raccoon roads, will take place from noon to 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

Youngstown Area Ukrainian Dancers, Happy Hearts Tamburitzans, Zaps Orchestra and Jack Vasko Orchestra will entertain.

There will be basket auctions and raffles.

Ukrainian foods offered will be pirogi, kielbasi and sauerkraut, borscht, stuffed cabbage, haluski, kolachi and other baked goods. Ukrainian beer also will be available. Carry out only line will be available.

Admission is $1 and will give a chance to win one dozen frozen pirogi. Pirogi drawings will take place through the day, the winner must be present.
