The local chapter of an organization dedicated to ending the opioid epidemic will host an event Monday for International Overdose Awareness Day.

The event, called FED UP!, will run from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 1105 Elm St.

It will feature speakers who will talk about solutions to the addiction epidemic, successful recovery stories, surviving the loss of a loved one and alternative therapies for addiction treatment.

The event also will feature children’s activities, and local treatment centers will distribute information.

A panel discussion about incarcerations and its root causes also will take place at 7 p.m. at the church.

The evening will conclude with a candlelight vigil.

The purpose is to bring attention to the addiction epidemic in this area.

“We’ve got to do something. We’re losing our future,” said Hope Lovrinoff-Moran, who organized the event. For information, contact her at 330-507-5313.
