Ensemble concert at YSU field

The Youngstown State University Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Stephen L. Gage, will present a free outdoor concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Harrison Common field, on Walnut Street (across from the MVR restaurant).

Titled “Strike Up the Band 2015,” the concert program will feature Americana repertoire, including “Strike Up The Band,” arranged by Warren Barker; “The Star Spangled Banner: A Love Song for Our Country,” arranged by Jack Stamp; “The Sound of Music” arranged by Robert Russell Bennett; “Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa, and more.

Gage said Harrison Common is an appropriate venue for this type of music, and added the ensemble is looking forward to the show, which will be its first of the season.

Patrons can bring lawn chairs and snacks (alcohol is not permitted). In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to the recital hall in Bliss Hall.
