Boys soccer defeats West Branch

The Canfield boys varsity soccer team defeated West Branch with a score of 9-0. The highlight of the game was sophomore RJ Thomas scoring a hat trick in his first varsity start. Goals for Canfield were made by RJ Thomas (3), Jowad Atway, Justin Montazeri, Justin Jickess, Alex Schill, Sam Accordino and Brandon Seybert. Assists were made by Ben Feuer (2), Sam Accordino (2), Christian Hume and Alec Simone. Canfield attempted 22 shots on the goal to West Branch’s three. Jeff Joseph and Nick Piersante made one save for Canfield. The junior varsity team defeated West Branch with a score of 3-0.

Canfield Girl’s Golf Defeats Howland

The Canfield girl’s golf team beat Hownland 179 to 195 on Aug. 20 at the Flying B Golf Course. Scoring for Canfield were Hannah Keffler (41), Kaci Carpenter (43), Gillian Cerimele (43) and Victoria Messuri (52).

Cardinal Football team of 2005 to be honored

On Sept. 4, The Fighting Cardinal Football team of 2005 will be honored with a tailgate, introduction at halftime and a party at Canfield’s Innder Circle after the Canfield vs. Alliance game. The 2005 team made history when they advanced to the State Championship game in Massillon. They emerged as the State Runner Up with a score of 31-29, making their community proud. Members of the 2005 team and cheerleaders are asked to call Mrs. McGuffin at the high school at 330-533-5507 ext. 2005 to confirm their attendance.

The school year is almost upon us and soon fall sports will begin. Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a fall sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need you help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.
