Boardman Little Spartans tackle Austintown Colts

The Boardman Little Spartans 105-pound team defeated the Austintown Colts 12-0 Sunday in Spartan stadium.

Vince Atwood had a pair of touchdowns for the Spartans. Coach Paul Prozy credited the victory to the great blocking of the offensive line and to his defense. The Little Spartan defense shut down the Colts offense and kept them from scoring. The offensive line is lead by third-year players Donovan Mays and Colton Ewert. Linebackers Cody Ewert and Landon Burke kept the Colts out of the end zone.

The Boardman Spartans 125- pound team battled the Austintown Colts Sunday with regular time running out, leaving a 0-0 tie. In overtime, Blake Ewert scored for the Spartans giving them the lead, 6-0. The Spartan defense held the Colts with an Antoine White tackle to shut them down and seal the victory. Quarterback Johnny Burton passed for three completions, two to White and one to Joel Pixley-Cuevas. The Spartans will take on the Crusaders Saturday in Youngstown.

The 145-pound Boardman Little Spartans fell to the Austintown Colts Sunday in Spartan Stadium 14-0. The Spartans battled to the end with a pair of fumble recoveries by Logan Cormell and Carter Mraz. Anthony Hightower intercepted a Colts pass and ran it back 40 yards. The defense was lead by linebackers KeJuan Robinson, Blaine Strines and safety Peyton Melchionne. Chris Kerby and Roen Marinelli lead the Spartan offense under the helm of Caleb Parker.
