BOARDMAN

Township police are investigating several cases of theft and vandalism reported by businesses Wednesday.

Nelson Tree Service, located on Ewing Road, reported to police someone stole $7,000 worth of tools and equipment from company trucks.

American Freight on South Avenue reported it was missing air-conditioning units from its property, resulting in a total loss of $20,000.

Another business that reported a loss was Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. Employees told police someone bought two iPhone cellphones from the store – totaling $1,598 – and then returned the phones for a cash refund. The returned phones, however, were missing computer chips.

Police also are investigating two reports in which unidentified suspects broke into properties located on Palo Verde Drive and Hillman Way. The listed owners of the respective properties are a bank and a real-estate company.

Copper pipes were missing from the Palo Verde property, a vacant house.
