Bellaire Democrat will chair Gerberry replacement panel

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Jack Cera, a Democrat from Bellaire, will chair the screening committee to recommend a replacement for Ronald V. Gerberry, who resigned from the 59th District seat on Aug. 21, the same day he was convicted of unlawful compensation of a public official.

Five members of the House Democratic Caucus will be responsible for choosing his replacement. Among the four other members is Michele Lepore-Hagan of Youngstown.

Those interested in the appointment should send resumes and cover letters to Andy DiPalma, House Democratic chief of staff, 77 S. High St., 14th Floor, Columbus 43215, or by email at andy.dipalma@ohiohouse.gov.

Sept. 14 is the deadline to apply.

The screening committee is expected to begin candidate interviews shortly after the deadline for applications.

The final decision rests with the 33-member House Democratic Caucus.

The 59th District office remains staffed and open to serve constituents’ needs while the search for a replacement commences.
