Theft: Ross A. Bowser, 19, of Holbrook Road, Youngstown, was charged with stealing a $42 set of trading cards from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Domestic violence: Tiffany M. Brandle, 37, of Fink Road, Kensington, was charged with the crime after her husband alleged she had slapped his face, resulting in a cut to his lip, during an argument at Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Someone removed $10 and three phone chargers from a vehicle in the 4600 block of Canterbury Lane.

Counterfeit: A fake $20 bill was found in a safe at Taco Bell, 458 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Aug. 13

Assault: While dealing with an argument on Indianola Road, officers took 37-year-old Brian A. Cappelli into custody. Cappelli, of Gladstone Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a Columbiana County warrant charging assault.

Burglary: To a residence in the 100 block of Erskine Avenue, from which a 9 mm semiautomatic firearm and a car charger were taken.

Criminal damaging: A woman leaving a store in the 7100 block of Tiffany Boulevard discovered someone had walked and crawled on top of her vehicle, damaging the driver’s-side fender and denting its roof and hood.

Arrest: Dustin J. Estep, 23, of Pine Street, Struthers, was picked up at Boardman Area Court on Market Street and charged with violating a protection order. Estep’s former girlfriend alleged he had been at her place of employment at a Doral Drive business, in violation of the order.

Theft: Brandon O. Grove, 29, of West Harvey Street, Struthers, was charged in the theft of six items valued at $215 from Walmart.

Burglary: Occurred at an apartment in the 70 block of Mayflower Drive. The burglar apparently had opened a safe, though it was undetermined if anything was missing.

Arrest: Police responded to a report of someone slumped in a vehicle at a Boardman-Poland Road fast-food restaurant, where they charged 66-year-old Daniel C. Morgan of Sheridan Road, Youngstown, with operating a vehicle impaired. The car had sat in the drive-through for about 20 minutes, an employee estimated.

Burglary: Nicole M. Rogenski, 30, of Maple Street, Canfield, faced a burglary charge after someone had forcibly entered a foreclosed home in the 1800 block of Brandon Avenue via a rear window. Copper piping was recovered, police said.

Theft: Authorities charged a 16-year-old Youngstown boy with one count each of theft, obstructing official business and unauthorized use of property after having responded to a complaint on Danbury Drive regarding a stolen camera. The teen also was wanted on a warrant from the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown.

Theft: A Ridgeview Drive man told police he gave another man $350 to buy parts for and perform labor on one of his cars, but that the man did neither.

Burglary: A Glenwood Avenue man reported someone drove out of his driveway in a blue pickup truck after the homeowner had seen the person in his garage. A neighbor reported the perpetrator had tried to steal a lawn mower, a report said.

Robbery: A Youngstown girl, 17, was charged with robbery after seven articles of women’s clothing valued at $34 were stolen from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road, and when loss-prevention officials alleged the teen had fought with them as they tried to detain her. Also, 19-year-old Laquasha K. Mitchell of Palmer Avenue, Youngstown, was taken into custody on a Niles warrant charging theft.

Aug. 14

Theft: Two men and a woman reportedly stole a smartphone and a $28 dress from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Harassment: A worker for a Market Street motel said a former tenant had made three such calls to the establishment.

Identity theft: A Green Bay Drive man found out his credit card had been used on three occasions in Miami without authorization.

Theft: A man reported a $1,500 set of golf clubs stolen from his vehicle while he was at a Doral Drive big-box store.

Identity fraud: A Lockwood Boulevard man learned that his personal information had been used without permission to open a credit-card account.

Fraud: An official with a Karago Avenue business reported having accepted an online order for a $7,824 car engine from Atlanta before finding out the action was fraudulent and that money was deducted from the business’s account.

Arrest: James C. Gurney, 50, of West Chalmers Avenue, Youngstown, was arrested at a Market Street motel. He was wanted on a Liberty warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a theft charge.

Theft: Justin M. Luzier of Warren Avenue, Poland, was phone booked at the Mahoning County jail on a theft charge. The 26-year-old Luzier was accused of leaving Michael Alberini’s Restaurant, 1140 Boardman-Poland Road, on Aug. 2 without paying a $52.50 food bill.

Theft: Authorities picked up 51-year-old Susan L. Witherspoon of Chestnut Street, Leetonia, who was wanted on a felony-theft charge related to an April 15 situation in which an employee with a Crossroads Drive business reported her purse had been stolen while she was on break.

Arrest: Officers took into custody 32-year-old Tearra C. Dates at her Shields Road Apartment. The Boardman woman was accused of failing to appear in court.

Theft: Authorities charged 21-year-old Stephanie J. Staph with theft after alleging Staph, of Pila Court, New Castle, Pa., had stolen $75 worth of women’s clothing from Victoria’s Secret in Southern Park Mall.

Aug. 15

Arrest: A traffic stop near Market Street resulted in a charge of operating a vehicle impaired against Cory L. Thomas, 32, of Cleveland.

Arson: A man in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle discovered his patio chairs and a bucket had been burned on his apartment patio. Also, the landlord noticed damage to part of the building’s brick foundation and to a set of sliding-glass doors.

Theft: A man reportedly stole a $300 fan from Bed, Bath & Beyond, 550 Boardman-Poland Road.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 4200 block of Glenwood Avenue. Stolen were two diamond rings, for an estimated loss of $3,000. Arrest: After attempting to stop a vehicle in the 8000 block of Market Street, authorities apprehended Bobbi T. Olds of Applecrest Court, Boardman, and charged the 36-year-old Olds with obstructing official business after saying she had led them on a foot chase.

Theft: Five people left Steak ‘n’ Shake, 6786 Applewood Blvd., without paying a $34.44 food bill.

Theft: A $500 laptop computer and a $40 bag were taken from a vehicle parked in the 60 block of Alburn Drive.

Domestic violence: Emmanuel Jones, 31, of Applecrest Court, Boardman, was booked at the Mahoning County jail after a July 12 situation in which his wife alleged Jones had threatened to kill her as she sought a protection order against him.

Vandalism: A 1991 Chevrolet vehicle was found running with a damaged steering column at Donnell Ford, 7955 Market St., apparently after someone had tried to steal the car.

Theft: A set of headphones and a key ring were removed from a car in the 4100 block of Windsor Road.

Arrest: Police conducting a vehicle check neat Stanton Avenue took into custody 30-year-old David T. Mauzy Jr. of Detroit Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a warrant from the Trumbull County 911 center charging failure to appear in court.

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 4100 block of Market Street entered a truck, cut a portion of the driver’s seat and tore off two sun visors. Damage came to $500.

Aug. 16

Assault: A woman reported having been jumped and struck several times in the face while leaving her Hillman Way apartment.

Theft by deception: A Huntington Court woman told police a caller claiming to represent Microsoft Corp. informed the accuser that she had a computer virus and got her to pay $210, supposedly to remove the malware, before she discovered it was a scam.

Domestic violence: Lance M. Costello, 38, of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, faced a felony domestic-violence charge after a woman alleged that during an argument about their relationship, Costello had grabbed and twisted her arm and tried to place her in a chokehold. The charge was elevated to a felony because of a prior conviction, a report showed.

Theft: A Newton Falls woman reported her purse stolen while in the 20 block of Carter Circle.

Assault: A Southern Boulevard man alleged a neighbor had punched his face and pinned him to the ground during a fight between them. Also, the accuser’s girlfriend reported having been pushed when she tried to intervene.

Aug. 20

Attempted burglary: Someone cut a bedroom-window screen in an unsuccessful effort to enter a condominium in the 6800 block of Lockwood Boulevard.

Bad check: A Boardman Boulevard man told police he had received a $3,966 check as payment before discovering the check was fraudulent.

Theft: A woman reported a wallet had been removed from her purse while she was at Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A man reportedly stole a digital adapter and a set of trading cards from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Criminal mischief: A woman saw that eggs had been thrown at the front and rear of her Carter Circle residence.

Burglary: To a home in the 300 block of Ridgefield Avenue. Stolen or damaged were a pair of undergarments, a hair dryer and a hair straightener.

Harassment: A South Avenue man reported having gotten such a text message.

Criminal damaging: A woman in the 700 block of Annawan Lane noticed someone had intentionally cut wiring to her car’s engine.

Attempted burglary: Someone tried to enter an apartment in the 1200 block of Red Tail Hawk Drive, apparently with a duplicate key.

Harassment: A Fox Run Court woman alleged her former boyfriend had placed a tracking device in her vehicle without her knowledge or consent.

Criminal mischief: Someone tossed eggs at a residence in the 400 block of Gardenwood Drive.

Aug. 21

Theft: Kristina L. Banet, 28, of North Union Avenue, Salem, was charged in the theft of three pieces of jewelry valued at $58 from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Authorities charged 21-year-old Amber M. Greer with one count of theft after alleging Greer, of Helena Avenue, Youngstown, had taken $167 worth of property from Walmart.

Drugs/weapon: While responding to a complaint in the 800 block of Moyer Avenue of a man having violated a protection order, police charged 30-year-old George Kelly of Sweetbriar Avenue, Warren, with one felony count each of trafficking in drugs, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and being a convicted felon with a firearm. Kelly had a loaded .40-caliber pistol in his car, along with a large bag of suspected marijuana under the gun, a report showed.

Theft: Authorities at the Mahoning County jail booked 32-year-old Joseph D. McCoy of Washington Boulevard, Boardman, after a Country Club Avenue woman had reported two trees stolen May 11 from her yard.

Domestic violence: A township boy, 17, was charged with the crime after his father alleged the teen had grabbed and twisted his arm, then struck the accuser during an argument related to discipline matters.

Theft: Victoria A. Rauch, 29, of Washington Boulevard, Boardman, was charged with stealing $35 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

Theft: Pierre J. Munoz of Carter Circle, Boardman, faced a felony-theft charge after officers responded to a possible robbery near Glenwood Avenue. The 20-year-old Munoz was accused of stealing a $1,782 anniversary ring from a Columbiana woman while in the 100 block of Runnemede Drive.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 4200 block of Glenwood Avenue, though police found no signs of forced entry. Stolen was $1,100 worth of jewelry.

Theft: An employee with a Market Street discount store reported her $160 cellphone stolen while at work.

Criminal mischief: A Stoney Creek Drive woman told police someone has been throwing a watermelon, eggs and other food items onto her driveway.

Theft by deception: A Butler, Pa., woman alleged she paid a Market Street realty company she had found on Craigslist a $40 application fee, but never received the services promised.

Burglary: Occurred in the 7700 block of Crimson Trail, where a wallet and a $400 mink jacket were missing.

Theft: A man reported 40 Sony PlayStation 3 discs, a Nintendo game system and various articles of clothing stolen from his Glendale Avenue home.

Aug. 22

Arrest: Authorities charged 19-year-old Scott M. Wanamaker of Jaronte Drive, Boardman, with operating a vehicle impaired after alleging he had nearly struck a police cruiser in an OVI saturation-patrol area on Mathews Road. Wanamaker’s blood-alcohol count was 0.117, slightly more than the legal limit of 0.08, a report stated.

Pursuit: Authorities reported a man led them on a vehicular chase as they attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Market Street after learning the motorist was driving under suspension. The pursuit was terminated in Youngstown.

Citation: Officers on Market Street pulled over and cited 25-year-old Nicholas V. Wiser of Zanesville on charges of marijuana possession and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Assault: A man on a bicycle near Southern Boulevard and Mathews Road reported a motorist demanded he get out of the road before intentionally bumping the victim’s left leg with the car. The bicyclist was not injured, however.

Criminal damaging: A car at a Tiffany Boulevard motel was found with a broken antenna. Damage was estimated at $500.

Criminal damaging: An Aylesboro Avenue woman reported someone in a group of people at her residence purposely tossed a chair and broke a window to her home.

Theft: Maxwell S. Pauletich, 29, was charged with one count each of theft and obstructing official business after a $60 pair of shoes was taken from Kohl’s. Pauletich, of Maple Grove Lane, New Waterford, also initially refused to follow officers’ commands, they alleged.

Burglary: A Woodview Avenue man alleged his landlord had entered his apartment without permission and carried some of the accuser’s belongings to the curb.

Aug. 23

Arrests: Police booked two 16-year-old township boys, both of whom were wanted on warrants from the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown accusing them of failing to appear in court.

Burglary: A woman in the 7400 block of West Boulevard told authorities she had awakened to a man in a T-shirt, a white pair of shorts and wearing a do-rag rummaging through her purse. She also reported a cellphone stolen.

Theft: Authorities charged 32-year-old Shayla J. Winford of Fairmont Avenue, Youngstown, with stealing a $75 pair of shoes from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.

Possible theft: A Campbell woman reported her debit card lost or stolen while at a Doral Drive big-box store.

Theft: A man reportedly stole three handbags valued at $534 from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.
