YOUNGSTOWN
D&E Headstart is accepting applications for its YWCA location at 25 W. Rayen Ave.
Only full-time spots are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for Headstart. All Headstart applications must go through the D&E Counseling Center.
YWCA of Youngstown is accepting applications for children age 3 to 5 and infants and toddlers age 6 weeks to 3 years for Early Care and Education programs. Full-time and daily rates are available.
Child-care scholarships also are available for eligible families. Up to 10 percent discounts are available to families working in the downtown area, and up to a 15 percent discount is available for employees of VXI Global Solutions.

Drug arrest
CAMPBELL
A traffic stop Wednesday afternoon led to an arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police stopped Jeremy Lovett, 31, of Bristolville near 12th Street and found a hypodermic needle, a glass pipe and a wad of copper, according to a police report. The report says there were multiple warrants for Lovett’s arrest out of Trumbull County. He will be arraigned Tuesday in Campbell Municipal Court.
Bomb threats at school
NILES
Niles City Schools canceled classes on the second day of the school year Thursday after receiving two bomb threats, according to The Vindicator’s broadcast partner 21 WFMJ-TV.
The first threat came to the high-school cafeteria at about 6:30 a.m.
A short time later, Niles police received a similar call. Police swept the school buildings looking for any explosives but found nothing. Police have not identified a suspect. Classes resume today.
All evening events and practice sessions were canceled except for football. The team boarded buses with police supervision at the high school for its away game Thursday night.
Break-in probed
GIRARD
Police are investigating an incident of breaking and entering reported early Wednesday morning at a Burger King restaurant on South State Street.
According to a police report, a 50-year-old man told police he saw a white male breaking windows at the restaurant. The witness also told police the suspect, who appeared to be a wearing a mask, fled west on a bike.
