Pennsylvania man sentenced for strangling girlfriend

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A central Pennsylvania man who pleaded guilty to strangling his girlfriend during a domestic dispute after they drank 2-1/2 gallons of vodka together is facing 12-1/2 to 25 years in prison.

Joseph Riddick was sentenced Thursday in Dauphin County court, Pennlive.com reports.

The couple had been living together at the Alva Motel in Harrisburg when the incident occurred. Police say Riddick called 911 and was performing CPR on 44-year-old Yevette Morrison when police and medical personnel arrived to find her unresponsive.

Riddick’s public defender, Deanna Muller, says Riddick’s long-term alcohol problem has cost the father of four his marriage, his family and his job as a truck driver.
