Board of election rejects fracking charter amendment
YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Board of Elections voted unanimously this evening to keep the latest anti-fracking charter amendment off the November ballot.
Board members said the proposal is unconstitutional since state law gives authority over fracking to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
The board voted 4-0 to keep it off the ballot despite a legal opinion from the county prosecutor's office that it had to vote to certify it to the ballot.
