Police made two heroin arrests Sunday on the South Side.
About 1:10 p.m. Holly DeFrank, 28, was arrested in front of a home in the 300 block of East Philadelphia Avenue. Reports said she was spotted flagging down cars by vice squad officers, and they stopped to investigate because she has had several prostitution arrests in the past.
Reports said she told police she had a crack pipe and was taken into custody for that. On the way to the Mahoning County jail she told police she also had a needle, crack cocaine and heroin.
At the jail, corrections officers found three doses of heroin and the crack cocaine. She was charged with possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Court records show she was sentenced to 10 months in prison in both 2005 and 2007 on drug charges and she has a municipal court record dating back to 2005. The charges she picked up Sunday are her first in the city since 2013, according to court records.
Judge Elizabeth Kobly set her bond at $10,000 during her arraignment in municipal court Monday.
About 7:25 p.m. Kenneth Aflleje, 33, of McKees Rocks, Pa., was arrested on drug charges after a car he was driving was pulled over by officer Mark Sember at Heasley and Chalmers avenues for purportedly running a stop sign. Reports said officers found a dose of heroin in his pockets after he admitted to police he had a crack pipe.
Reports said Aflleje told police he was going to a home on the corner that reports said is known for drug sales. Aflleje said he was going to the home to pick up a friend, but he did not know the friend, reports said.
Reports said Aflleje had warrants for his arrest from four agencies: sheriffs’ offices in Mahoning and Trumbull counties, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and city police.
Judge Kobly set his bond at $10,000.
