Home demolitions progressing in Austintown

Staff report

AUSTINTOWN

Darren Crivelli, township zoning inspector, is hopeful two more home demolitions can be done in the coming weeks.

He told the trustees Monday afternoon that 3839 Elmwood Ave. has been torn down and a home at 580 N. Turner Road will hopefully be “done in the next couple weeks.”

Crivelli also said the demolition of a home at 261 First St. will be done “hopefully in the next month.”

In other matters, Trustee Jim Davis had a moment of silence for the Aug. 13 death of retired Judge James C. Evans of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. Davis said Evans “was an outstanding man that you wanted to emulate yourself after.”

The board unanimously approved a number of items for public auction, including two 2011 Ford Crown Victoria cars. One has 104,634 miles on it while the other has logged 109,217 miles.

The date of the auction will be announced later.
