FrackFree Mahoning Valley hosts town hall meeting on fracking Thursday night

YOUNGSTOWN — FrackFree Mahoning Valley will have a town hall-style meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the First Universalist Church of Youngstown, 1105 Elm St., to discuss the impact of fracking.

The event is called: “A Community Discussion: Injection wells, Fracking Waste, Man-Made Earthquakes, and Other Fracking-Related Infrastructure: What Can People do to Protect Their Neighborhoods, Drinking Water, Air, and Their Family’s and the Public’s Health, Safety, and Well-Being?” It is free and open to the public.

FrackFree Mahoning Valley is the organization behind an effort to put an anti-fracking charter amendment on the Nov. 3 ballot in Youngstown. The organization backed four previous failed ballot proposals.

Raymond Beiersdorfer, professor of geology at Youngstown State University, will give an update regarding injection wells and man-made earthquakes or induced seismicity.

Also, copies of a recently received public-records request and other important documents relevant to local injection wells and other infrastructure will be available.
