11 people apply so far for Trumbull elections director or deputy director

With several days left, 11 people have submitted applications to be Trumbull County Board of elections director or deputy director – eight Democrats, a Republican, a nonparty candidate and one person not registered to vote in the county.
The application process opened after Director Jodi Fiorenzo Dibble resigned for medical reasons.
The Democrat candidates are Anne Smusz of Liberty, Sherry Rose of Niles, Robert March of Warren, Jaime Shuster of Warren, Debra Bracken of Niles, Ronald Massullo of Poland, Hermina Church of Warren and Dennis Murphy of Hubbard.
The Republican is Cara McIntosh of Bristolville. The nonparty applicant is Werner Lange of Newton Falls, and Gina Angle of Warren is not registered as a voter in Trumbull County.
Applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Stephanie Penrose, deputy director, said she will be a candidate for director or deputy director but was advised she didn’t need to submit an application.
To be eligible, a person has to be a registered Trumbull County voter, Penrose said. The deadline to register for the November election is 9 a.m. Oct. 5.
