Poland school officials hear concerns about school transportation

POLAND — As students gear up to go back to school Wednesday, some parents are concerned about transportation provided by the school district.

A few parents spoke up at a board meeting tonight about what they say are issues with busing.

One parent questioned the board decision to push forward school start times and expressed concern that she will have to get her elementary-age kids ready for the bus by 7 a.m.

Another parent expressed frustration about the fact some families reportedly have not yet received their bus schedules. He also questioned the way bus pickup locations are determined, saying his children will have to walk to a location other than their house to get on the bus.

Another reported issue is that some families have received incorrect pickup locations.

Superintendent David Janofa addressed the concerns, citing consolidation of school buildings this year as a cause of some of the confusion.
