NORTH JACKSON

For more than 20 years, the Wizard of Odds antique store has been providing many with the opportunity to participate in a form of “treasure hunting,” says Beverly Bretschneider of Austintown, who regularly visits.

She recently purchased a cedar chest at the North Jackson store and was back looking for a sturdy end table for her home. She smiled as she said, “You can always find a treasure here ... You just have to keep looking!”

She mentioned that the store is a favorite getaway for her and her 92-year-old mother Mary. They visit the store every other week and “love it” because the items continuously change.

Many visit either the first location in North Jackson or the second location only 6 miles down Mahoning Avenue in Austintown, spending significant time walking the aisles of the packed stores, which are owned by Judy Hamrick of Austintown.

According to Robin Duckworth of Alliance, a 10-year employee and vendor, the North Jackson location features selections from more than 80 vendors whose styles vary, giving the store a unique feel with displays featuring items from glassware to antique furniture.

Both locations are open seven days a week, varying in hours. North Jackson’s location is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the Austintown location Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
