Man arraigned on charge accusing him of attempting to abduct girl

WARREN

Michael J. Orfin, 59, of Tod Avenue and Stephens Avenue Northwest, was arraigned in Warren Municipal Court Monday on a felony charge accusing him of attempting to abduct a girl.

A not-guilty plea was entered for him to a charge of attempt to commit an offense, and bond of $5,000 was set. He was arrested Friday afternoon and placed in the Trumbull County jail.

The charge stems from an allegation by a girl, 11, that Orfin threatened to abduct her outside her house on Stiles Avenue Northwest Aug. 17.

The girl said Orfin was standing near her yard at 1:47 p.m. and told her she had pretty hair, then said she had three seconds to get someone to let her in her house or “she would be going with him.”

The man started walking toward the front of the house and was counting down from three when the girl’s sister answered the door and let her in, police said.

Police interviewed Orfin that day but released him pending further investigation.
