Man, 64, stabbed in downtown Y’town

YOUNGSTOWN

A 64-year-old man is recovering from a stabbing downtown Saturday afternoon.

The victim reported to a police officer that he was stabbed at 2:21 p.m. The police report states that he had a severe cut to his left chest. He was then transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a 27-year-old black, homeless man who weighs about 160 pounds.

Teen killed in crash near Elm Rd. Drive-In

WARREN

Warren City Police are investigating a fatal crash near the entrance of Elm Road Triple Drive-In, 1895 Elm Road NE, on Sunday morning.

Shemar Glover, 19, was killed in the crash about 5:45 a.m. Preliminary investigations indicate that speed was a factor.

Veterans office closing

The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission office in Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., Suite 100, will be closed Friday for training.

Free YSU concert

The Youngstown Sate University Wind Ensemble will perform a “Strike Up the Band 2015” concert 7 p.m. Sept. 2, on Harrison Common Field on Walnut Street on the YSU campus. The free concert has a distinctly Americana repertoire, including “Strike Up The Band,” arranged by Warren Barker and “The Star Spangled Banner: A Love Song for Our Country,” arranged by Jack Stamp, and much more.
