Dow plunges on opening bell

NEW YORK (AP) — Dow Jones industrials plunge 1,000 points in early trading after Chinese stock market rout.

Within a few minutes the Dow evened out a bit in the 800-down range. But most stock market analysts predicted today would see much instability in the market.
