2016 presidential candidate to make campaign stop

A 2016 presidential candidate seeking the Democratic Party’s nomination to run in the general election will be making several campaign stops in Youngstown today .

But the candidate is not front-runner Hillary Clinton or U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.

Robby Wells is set to meet with several community leaders in Youngstown. He will make an appearance at a town hall meeting in the Jones Room of Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University at 2 p.m. and a rally at Rockford Village, formerly known as the Kimmel Brook projects, an hour later.

The Wells campaign said in a statement that “his plan returns millions of manufacturing jobs to the United States that have been lost to foreign countries due to massive outsourcing because of poor legislation in Washington, D.C., creates millions of jobs to improve our infrastructure, creates millions of jobs to achieve sustainable energy independence, and educational reform that includes free tuition for a bachelor’s degree and the elimination of student loan debt.”

His platform is based on “Eaglenomics,” which he describes as working to achieve the best elements of the left and right wings of the political spectrum.

The Georgia native lost the presidential nomination of the Constitution Party in 2012. Prior to his political aspirations, he worked as high school and college football coach including head coach at Savannah State University in Savannah, Ga. from 2007 to 2010.

Deonna Moore is serving as Ohio coordinator for Wells’ campaign.

In addition to Wells, Sanders and Clinton, former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley and former U.S. Sen. Jim Webb are also seeking the Democratic Party’s nomination for president.
