YOUNGSTOWN

The Brownlee Woods Neighborhood Association will meet Thursday at Faith Community Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd. There will be refreshments and social time at 6 p.m. and a business meeting at 6:30.

Councilman John R. Swierz, D-7th, will attend and report on news in the neighborhood. The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. will have a presentation on its “Better Block” event planned for Oct. 25 on Midlothian Boulevard between Sheridan Road and Irma Avenue.

The association will host its fall car show, a “Dress up Your Car” and “Trunk or Treat” event, from 2 to 5 p.m. also Oct. 25 in the church parking lot.

The Old Furnace District Neighborhood Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the pavilion at 1236 E. Cherokee Drive. George Wallace, community police officer, will speak.

‘Bed race’ event set

BOARDMAN

Greenbriar Healthcare, 8064 South Ave., will host a “bed race” event at 11 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot. Several vendors from the community will participate, including Patriot Home Health, Harbor Lights, Senior Independence and Crossroads Hospice. The Greenbriar director will be representing the center in the race.

Proceeds from vendors and food concessions will benefit the Alzheimer Network.
