Crisis shelter offers training classes next month

NEW CASTLE, PA.

The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County,1218 W. State St., will offer training classes for volunteers from Sept. 15 through Dec. 15.

Classes will take place consecutive Tuesdays, excluding two weeks during this period with no classes.

Participants will learn about the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault, safety planning, empowerment counseling, confidentiality and other topics.

Before the first week of training, all potential volunteers must attend an informational meeting at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 1.

The one-hour meeting will allow volunteers to complete necessary paperwork, receive a schedule and a volunteer handbook/training guide and to register for required online training components.

Volunteers will not be permitted to attend training sessions without first attending the informational session.
