WARREN

Police are looking for a man who committed a bloody knife attack and robbery of a man on North Park Avenue on Thursday night.

The same man may have also committed an attempted robbery with a knife earlier Thursday not far away.

Both victims reported the man who committed the crimes was a black male wearing a white shirt and dark shorts.

The suspect stabbed one of the victims in the face, chest, back, side and stomach. The victim, 53, who lives on North Park, was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Police described the victim as having a “large laceration on the right side of his face starting at the top of his mouth and leading to the bottom of his chin.” The attack left the man’s shirt covered in blood.

Police were called at 9:45 p.m. to the sidewalk in front of 375 North Park Avenue, where they found the victim, who said his attacker was a black male on a mountain bike wearing a white shirt, black shorts and a backpack.

He said the attacker walked up to him and robbed him of $10 in the parking lot of an apartment building at 438 North Park and stabbed him multiple times.

A witness, however, said he observed a white male on a mountain bike who had a backpack and either a GPS or cellphone on the front handle bars.

He said he heard the victim yell multiple times, “You already stabbed me once, leave me alone.”

Ambulance personnel indicated the victim had been stabbed six times, including twice in his side.

An attempted robbery with a knife also was reported at 194 Belmont Street NE at 5:32 p.m.

A man having a yard sale there said a thin black male in his early 20s with short black hair and a small amount of facial hair, white shirt and dark shorts pointed a knife with a 3-inch blade at him and demanded money.

The victim said the knife had a curved end.

The suspect ran off when the victim picked up his phone and called 911, police said.

The victim, 79, told the suspect he didn’t have any money and that was why he was having a yard sale.

Warren police said Friday morning they don’t know if the same person committed both crimes.
