Prosecutors in Cleveland want at least a $1 million bond set for a reputed mob associate and former son-in-law of John Gotti who’s accused of running a scam involving stolen cars and scrap metal.

A motion filed Thursday in Cuyahoga County says 56-year-old Carmine “The Bull” Agnello of Bentleyville is a flight risk and a danger to public safety because of his previous activities as a member of the Gambino crime family in New York. A judge gave Agnello a personal bond on July 17, two days after his arrest by Cleveland police. He’s scheduled to be arraigned Monday.

Agnello was indicted earlier this month on charges that include conspiracy, racketeering and aggravated theft.

A defense attorney says the bond motion is frivolous and relies on 30-year-old court transcripts.
