Firefighters let two vacant homes burn down early today

YOUNGSTOWN — Firefighters allowed two vacant homes on the East Side to burn down early today after they were already fully engulfed in flames.

Crews were called to the 300 block of Albert Street about 1 a.m., where a home that had caught fire Monday was now fully engulfed in flames. Reports said the flames spread to another vacant house next door and spread quickly, so the decision was made to allow them both to burn down.

Damage is listed at $3,000. There were no injuries. The cause is under investigation.
