Warren man faces burglary charge in Niles

NILES — Malcolm Gilford, 29, of Orchard Drive in Warren, was arraigned today in Niles Municipal Court on an aggravated burglary charge stemming from an Aug. 9 incident in which he’s accused of breaking into a woman’s home and assaulting her.

No plea was entered for him, and bond of $15,000 was set.

Gilford was arrested on a warrant Wednesday and taken to the Trumbull County Jail.

Niles police said a woman reported Gilford broke into her apartment on Royal Mall Drive by breaking down the front door at 10:27 p.m., choked her and possibly injured her fingers.

He took items from the apartment and fled, police said.

Gilford is the father of the woman’s two children and last lived with her at the apartment in April, she told police.
