Boardman school board schedules special meeting for Sunday morning

The board of education will meet at 9 a.m. Sunday at the office of the superintendent in Center Middle School at 7410 Market St. for a work session.
The reason for the special meeting, according to the district treasurer’s office, is to discuss updates on district financials, technology, curriculum and instruction, building and grounds, and preliminary visioning report.
Specific topics of discussion will be Drund – a social- media platform for schools – and the Boardman Schools Television Network. Board members also will discuss updates on the new stadium being constructed on the high school campusand the process of working with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, which helps districts with buildings in need of replacement.
The board also will review policy on classroom visitations and discuss board resolutions that could address state education issues, according to the release.
The board has a regularly scheduled meeting 7 p.m. Monday at Center Middle School auditorium.
The reason for the early-morning weekend meeting is to accommodate board members’ schedules, said Jody Stepan, administrative assistant to the superintendent. The board usually has weekend work sessions every two or three months, she said.
