“The Wizard of Oz,SDRq directed by Michael Cavalier, New Castle Playhouse, Augustine Auditorium, 212 E. Long Ave., New Castle, Pa., auditions Aug. 30 and Sept. 1. The Aug. 30 auditions will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and will be for the Munchkins, who must be 6 years old or older and under 5 feet tall, and adult and teen auditions from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The Sept. 1 auditions will accept Munchkins from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and adults and teens from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. Callbacks, as needed, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 3. All auditionees are asked to perform a vocal selection of their choice. Auditionees can use a CD (music only, no recorded vocals), sheet music (an accompanist will be available) or sing a cappella. Participants should note that children will be photographed and videotaped as part of their audition. Performances will be Nov. 20- Dec. 6. Opera Western Reserve’s “The Elixir of Love,SDRq Stambaugh Auditorium Grand Ballroom, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, auditions at 7 p.m. Sept. 9. OWR is looking for all voices, ages and types for the chorus. Performance will be Nov. 13.
