Ground rabies baiting by Mahoning County health board begins Thursday

YOUNGSTOWN — Ground rabies baiting will occur in Mahoning County District Board of Health on Thursday and Friday, county to the district health board.

Rabies-baiting operations are to create an immune barrier along Ohio’s state lines to prevent the rabies spreading into the rest of the state. Baiting will take place in 12 northeastern Ohio counties between Aug. 19 to Sept. 11. Residents should be aware of low-flying aircraft and baits should be left alone.
