SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Above is Richard States’ winning photo for Best of Show at the national convention of the Men’s Garden Clubs of America.

At the national convention of the Men’s Garden Clubs of America, Richard States won the Sweepstake Award in the photo contest, which is open to all members.

Since 2010, States has been a member of the Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown, which is affiliated with the national organization.

He garnered the highest total points for 20 photos.

He has won the award all six years that he entered, each year from 2010 through 2015.

He also has won Best of Show for five years in a row, including this year. Above is the winning photo.

States is a horticulturist, a retired educator of horticulture and a published author of educational slide series for Ohio State University.
