POLAND
Poland Seminary High School, 3199 Dobbins Road, will host a preseason Jamboree football game against Girard High at 7 p.m. Thursday. This football scrimmage allows the teams to gear up for the regular season, while raising money for a local nonprofit.
Tickets will be sold at the door. The cost is $4 for adults, $2 for students, and children under 12 are free. All the proceeds raised will benefit the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.
Tie Dye Party set

The Central City Unity Garden, at Mercer and Washington streets, will host an End of Summer Tie Dye Party at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The event will include food and music. Participants are asked to bring old T-shirts. If interested in bringing musical instruments for a jam session, or to make a contribution, contact Joan at holmansullivan@gmail.com
Health fair planned
NORTH LIMA
Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., will host a public health fair from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday. Emphasis will be on leading a healthy lifestyle through dietary modifications, exercise and nutrition education. Free blood-pressure screenings will be available.
Motorcycle crash
NEWTON Falls
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that occurred at 12:35 a.m. Saturday on South Canal Street, north of Hot West Road. Thomas Strahler, 39, of Lake Milton was ejected from his motorcycle while going around a curve at a high rate of speed, the OSHP said. Strahler was in critical condition Saturday in St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, according to a media release. The OSHP said Strahler was not wearing a helmet, and alcohol and excessive speed were involved.
