CLASSES

Mahoning River Friends will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Oak Hill Collaborative, 507 Oak Hill, Youngstown. Parking is at the rear of the building. Ron Kichton will give a presentation on low head dams. The recreation committee will report on the progress of obtaining a portage around the Girard dam and the installation of informational/warning signs in Mahoning County regarding the Mahoning River. That Quilt Group I Belong To will meet Tuesday at Canfield Fair Park. Members will work on projects from 1 to 5 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Clare Neff of Village Quilts will demonstrate a variety of quilted items made with the X-Blocks Template. Holborn Herb Growers Guild will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Western Reserve Village at the Canfield Fairgrounds for garden cleanup. Take garden tools, gloves and trash bags. SOCIETIES

World War II Heritage Society will meet at 6:30 Aug. 24 at A La Cart Catering on Lisbon Street in Canfield. Rabbi Joseph P. Schonberger of Liberty will be the guest speaker, and dinner will follow. Reservations must be made before Aug. 21 by calling Dave Frank at 330-757-0515. Rabbi Schonberger is a spiritual leader at Temple El Emeth in Liberty. He was born in Israel and is a child of Hungarian Holocaust survivors.

SUPPORT GROUPS

Alzheimer Network Family Support Group will meet as follows: at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Girard Public Library, 105 E. Prospect St.; 7 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Lakes, St. Catherine Family Center, 1254 Grandview Road, Lake Milton; and 10 a.m. Friday at Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. Monday at Antonine Sisters Adult Day Center, 2675 N.
