Vanishing Acts

When: Sunday, 1- 2 p.m.

What: Enjoy a tour through our Vanishing Acts outdoor exhibit to explore why trees are under threat around the world and here in Ohio.

PARKITECTURE TROLLEY

When: Aug. 17, 1-3 p.m.

What: Landscape architect Justin Rogers will guide the trolley trip to show the historic landscape features and building architecture found in Mill Creek Park.

Where: Meet at Ford Nature Center, 840 Bears Den Road, Youngstown.

Cost: $7 adult residents; $10 NR; $5 for 12 and under or older than 60 R; $8 NR same ages.

Hands-On Vegetable Gardening

When: Monday, 6-8 p.m.

What: Come and see the concrete block raised beds on the asphalt parking lot that are growing tons of vegetables.

Master Gardeners coffee

When: Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to noon.

What: Learn to read a soil test, to make soil improvement, talk about soil amendments and dig up some soil.

Art in the Garden

When: Wednesday, 6 p.m.

What: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and garden art is a beautiful thing. Learn to make and purchase items to have the best garden art to fit your garden and your style.

Where: Garden at OSU Extension, Trumbull County, 520 W. Main St., Cortland.

RECREATIONAL HIKE

When: Aug. 19, 9 to 10:30 a.m.

What: The faster-paced hikes promote exercise and are usually 2 to 4 miles. They are rated as easy.

Where: MetroParks Bikeway Kirk Road Trailhead, 6685 Kirk Road, Canfield.

Men’s Garden Club Horticulture Show

When: Aug. 22, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

What: Bring your best to show or just admire summer’s bounty of flowers and vegetables at this show.
