Ohio judge pleads guilty to charges in assault on his wife
CLEVELAND (AP) — A suspended northeast Ohio judge has pleaded guilty to charges in an assault on his estranged wife last year.
Lance Mason, 47, pleaded guilty today to attempted felonious assault and domestic violence. The Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court judge was originally charged with felonious assault, kidnapping, domestic violence and child endangering. A plea agreement calls for Mason to receive between nine and 36 months in prison when he’s sentenced Sept. 16.
Atty. Fernando Mack said Mason has accepted responsibility and called the plea deal the “correct resolution.”
Mason and his wife, Aisha, had been long separated before the alleged Aug. 2, 2014, attack. Authorities say Mason attacked his wife in a car while he was driving and pushed her out. She suffered a broken orbital bone, bites and cuts.
