Toddler dies in fire

SHARON

A 3-year-old boy died Monday night in a Sharon house fire after following his father back inside the burning home.

Vindicator broadcast partner 21 WFMJ-TV reported that Layden Thomas died in the fire. The boy, his parents and two siblings were inside the Sherman Avenue home when the fire started.

21 WFMJ-TV reported that the father, Terry Thomas, took the 3-year-old from the home first before going back and rescuing a 5-year-old and an infant.

Officials say the father did not know Layden followed him back inside. The boy was later found dead under a bed, the station reported.
