Back to school supplies go fast for Child Support Awareness Day

Backpacks, shoulder bags and back to school supplies were disappearing fast in a giveaway this morning at Oakhill Renaissance Place, Lobby B, 345 Oak Hill Ave., where some children arrived with their parents as early as 7 a.m., three hours ahead of the announced starting time.

Because of the demand, the giveaway actually started shortly after 9 a.m.

As of 9:45 a.m., fewer than 75 of 150 sets of back to school giveaway items were still available on a first come, first served basis.

The occasion is the Mahoning County Child Support Enforcement Agency’s annual Child Support Awareness Day, which runs until 2 p.m. today.
