Authorities say a 17-year-old suspect being tried as an adult in two armed robberies escaped from a juvenile detention center in Northeast Ohio.
The Northeast Ohio Media Group reported that the young man from Akron left the Summit County Juvenile Justice Center on Saturday evening, possibly through an unlocked door. Investigators were reviewing the surveillance video.
The county sheriff says the detention center is staffed by civilians hired by a court.
The teen is accused of helping an 18-year-old woman with two armed robberies in December.
