CANFIELD
A total of 429 vehicles went through two sobriety checkpoints conducted by the Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle while Impaired Task Force, with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Saturday night.
Officers conducted a checkpoint at 4545 New Road in Austintown, where seven vehicles were diverted for further investigation and 10 vehicles were stopped during a simultaneous saturation patrol. Officers issued one summons for driving under suspension and one citation for traffic-control device.
At a second checkpoint on Glenwood Avenue near Lake Drive in Youngstown, officers issued five summons for driving under suspension, one for drug abuse and one citation for speed.
Officers diverted 14 vehicle that went through the checkpoint and conducted 17 traffic stops near the checkpoint site.
Campbell boil advisory
CAMPBELL
City residents are to continue boiling their water today and until further notice because of a water main break that led to the closure of Coitsville Road between Starr Avenue and Cortland Avenue on Sunday.
A spokesman said the water department does not know when the road will reopen.
Residents still are receiving water, but have reported very low water pressure.
Domestic-violence case
AUSTINTOWN
A township man who police say has been convicted of domestic violence four previous times now faces a first-degree misdemeanor count of the offense.
Charged is Joseph Stigar, 44, of South Main Street.
Township police reportedly responded to his residence early Monday for a dispute between him and his wife.
Stigar purportedly threatened to hurt her with a knife. Stigar was taken to the Mahoning County jail.
Impaired-driving charge

A 25-year-old Canfield man with two previous impaired-driving convictions in the last six years again faces charges for the offense.
Township police arrested Andrew Daff, of Catawba Drive, early Saturday after an officer reportedly found Daff passed out in his car at a traffic light on Shields Road at Glenwood Avenue.
Daff was cited for operating a vehicle while impaired, driving under several open suspensions and having an open container of alcohol in his car.
His blood-alcohol content reportedly registered at 0.165. The state legal limit for intoxication is 0.08.
Daff is scheduled to appear today in Mahoning County Area Court here.
Investigating burglary

Township police are investigating a reported burglary at a Border Avenue residence.
Police responded to the house Friday afternoon, where they discovered a broken window and a rock inside the house that they believe was used to break it.
Missing items include video games, a computer and a drill, the total value of which is estimated at about $600 plus the cost to repair the window.

Concerns about crossing
LEETONIA
Mayor Artie Altomare contacted the Norfolk Southern Rail Co. concerning the reopening of the Walnut Street Crossing due to residents’ concerns on how long it has been closed.
Altomare requested that the crossing be opened as soon as possible so residents can use the crossing while waiting on permanent repairs. The railroad representative advised they will try and have the crossing temporarily opened up by Friday.
Stolen from school
LISBON
Band equipment and food were stolen from the old Beaver middle-school building.
According to The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV, the thieves took about $40,000 in musical instruments and took food from a large freezer. There also was vandalism as fire extinguishers were sprayed in rooms and paint put on the walls.
Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office officials said there were at least three to four people involved in the crime that happened in the past week.
