Shootings probed
YOUNGSTOWN
Police are investigating separate incidents over the weekend in which shots were fired.
A 37-year-old woman told police Sunday she had been arguing with a woman earlier in the day when the woman returned to her home in the 800 block of East Avondale about 9 p.m., got out of a car and fired several shots at her home.
Police found a bullet hole in the bumper of the victim’s car and a spent .40-caliber shell casing in the street. No one was injured.
About 5:30 a.m. Sunday, a woman who lives at a home in the 400 block of St. Louis Avenue told police she was sleeping when she was awakened by several shots. The woman told police she and a man with her went downstairs and heard several more shots.
Police said they found several bullet holes in the home. No one was injured in that shooting, either.
Attempted robbery
YOUNGSTOWN
Police said a known suspect tried to rob someone at gunpoint in the parking lot of a 372 W. Rayen Ave. restaurant about 9:45 p.m. Friday.
Reports said a 63-year-old man and his wife were walking out of the restaurant when a man walked up to them, pulled a gun and demanded money.
Reports said the victim was familiar with firearms and realized the robber had a pellet gun, and he refused to give the robber any money. The robber then ran away.
The owner of the restaurant told police that employees who witnessed the attempted robbery said the suspect is a well-known drug addict and petty thief who is in the area regularly.
