The Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities has launched a new website to get the word out about a 3-mill, five-year renewal levy on the November general-election ballot.
The levy will generate about $11.3 million per year that will go toward MCBDD’s programs and services as well as Medicaid waivers, board President Bill Whitacre noted during Monday’s meeting in the Center at Javit Court, 153 Javit Court.
The levy will not mean an increase in taxes, he stressed.
For information on the levy, go to www.someoneuknow.com.
In other business, board members approved two contracts totaling up to $105,000 for physical- and occupational-therapy services at Leonard Kirtz School for the 2015-16 school year.
The contracts were awarded to Tudor Physical Therapy of Youngstown and Portage Physical Therapies of Ravenna.
Also at the session, Whitacre handed service awards to eight employees who have been with the agency between five and 20 years.
In addition, more than 20 Mahoning County athletes who receive services from the agency were honored for having participated in the statewide Summer Special Olympic Games in late June in Columbus.
Similarly, the MCBDD’s volleyball team was recognized after having won the championship in its division for nine-consecutive years.
The board’s next meeting is set for 6 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Bev MASCO Workshop Inc., 825 Bev Road, in Boardman.
