SALEM

Police have in custody a suspect in a Saturday-morning shooting at an apartment complex on Lexington Avenue, according to Vindicator broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV. Earlier, police identified Vincent Perry, 22, as the shooter who left a 31-year-old man with a gunshot wound in his arm. The victim has since been released after treatment at Salem Regional Medical Center. Perry is a 5-foot 7-inch tall, 140-pound black male with tattoos on his chest and arms, according to police. Anyone with information on the shooting should call Salem Police Department at 330-337-7811.

Attempted robbery

YOUNGSTOWN

A couple told police a man tried to rob them in the parking lot of Charlie Staples Bar-B-Q, downtown, Friday evening. The couple reported that a 6-foot tall black male demanded money and had a pellet gun, according to a city police report. Crime alerts sent by Youngstown State University say the suspect had a limp and wore a gray vest and black sweatpants.

Fire at vacant home

CAMPBELL

A fire Friday about 9:30 p.m. at a vacant home at 307 Whipple Avenue caused $20,000 in damage, Fire Captain Charles Mrakovich said. The fire department still is investigating the fire’s cause but have deemed it suspicious and believe it could have been set intentionally, Mrakovich said. No injuries were reported.
