A summary of police activity in the cities of Canfield, Girard and Hubbard, and Austintown and Liberty townships:
CANFIELD
July 22
Criminal trespassing: After a report of a woman trying to solicit money from customers, police arrested Tabitha Kerr, 46, of Huntington Drive, Boardman, on a charge of trespassing, and Justin Malice, 29, of Forestridge Drive, Boardman, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
July 27
Harassing phone calls: The caller was identified, and harassing calls were stopped at a home in the 500 block of Blueberry Hill. No charges were filed.
July 28
Criminal trespassing: Police arrested Alan Bott,49, of Mercedes Place, Canfield, on two counts of criminal trespassing.
July 29
Theft: A report of a theft from a business checking account in the 500 block of North Broad Street first made in June was resolved with a payment plan being established in the now-civil matter. No charges were filed.
Cruelty to animals: Police arrested Arlene Foley, 78, of South Salem-Warren Road, North Jackson, on a charge of cruelty to animals after a concerned citizen called about a dog left in a parked vehicle at Giant Eagle, 525 E. Main St.
July 30
Theft: A report of theft of money was made at a home in the 200 block of Talsman Drive. The money was returned, however, and no charges were filed.
Aug. 2
Drug abuse: Police arrested Daniel Riggs, 36, of South Bailey Road, North Jackson, on charges of drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.
AUSTINTOWN
July 27
Recovered property: An iPad and stand and a Mongoose bike were recovered at an apartment in the 1600 block of Fountain Square. Police officials said a juvenile had been involved in robbing churches and stealing bicycles.
Theft: Weddings rings were reported stolen at an apartment in the 400 block of South Raccoon Road.
Theft: A lawn mower was stolen from a home in the 100 block of North Canfield-Niles Road.
Theft: Money was taken from an account from the resident of an apartment in the 1000 block of Fountain Square.
Warrant: Police arrested Michael Atylm, 41, of Bears Den Road, Youngstown, on a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic charge.
July 28
Theft: Police issued a summons to Valentina Kelly, 31, of North Fruit Street, Youngstown, on a theft charge. Police said she took items valued at $56.11 that she did not scan at the self-checkout at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.
Property damage: Damage to a school bus window was done by a neighbor who lives at a home in the 4000 block of Woodmere Drive.
Theft: Multiple eyeglass frames were stolen from Optical Vision Center, 6006 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: A theft was reported at an apartment in the 800 block of Compass West.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle rear window was shattered in the 1000 block of Fountain Square.
Theft: An undetermined amount of Money was taken from a home in the 1000 block of Mulberry Run.
July 29
Warrant: Police arrested Steven Brown, 34, of Oriole Place Southeast, Warren, on a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic charge.
Disorderly conduct: Police issued a summons to John Smith, 65, of DeForest Road Southeast, Warren, on a charge of disorderly conduct.
July 29
Misuse of credit card: Unauthorized charges were made to an account at a home in the 5000 block of West Webb Road.
Theft: An American flag and pole were stolen from a home in the 700 block of Oberlin Place.
Theft: Three males have been stealing cartons of cigarettes over the last month at Walmart.
Theft: A 20-inch BMX bicycle was stolen from a home in the 3000 block of Cumberland Drive.
Theft: Police issued a summons to Jean Clover, 55, of Tod Avenue, Warren, on a theft charge. Police accused her of taking a $1.05 bottle of Arizona Tea at Walgreen’s, 5501 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: Credit cards were reported missing from a home in the 4000 block of New Road.
July 30
Warrant: Josue Rodriguez, 39, of Narcissa Street, Struthers, surrendered to police on a warrant for domestic violence.
Recovered property: A bag with drug paraphernalia and pills was recovered at Walmart.
Vehicle pursuit: Police arrested Shaquille McElroy, 21, of Dryden Avenue, Youngstown, on charges of fleeing and eluding for leading police on a chase that ended when he crashed his motorcycle into a guard rail.
July 31
Drug offense: Police arrested David Ulam, 33, of Celestial Drive Northeast, Warren, on drug-possession charges and on a Geauga County warrant for failure to appear for an arraignment hearing for a traffic violation.
Domestic violence: Police arrested Emily Young, 51, of Webb Road, on a domestic-violence charge.
Fraud: Unauthorized charges were made to an account of a person living at a home in the 3000 block of Elmwood Avenue.
Aggravated menacing: A male suspect pointed a gun at a person in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.
Attempted burglary: Three males tried to kick in the side door of a house and garage in the 6000 block of Winteridge Court.
Theft: A woman stole a Keurig coffee maker and a set of pots and pans at Walmart.
Aug. 1
Domestic violence: Police arrested Anthony Brooks, 24, and Megan Ellsesser,19, both of the 5000 block of Callaway Circle, on domestic-violence charges.
Breaking and entering: A lawnmower was taken from a storage shed in the 4000 block of Mahoning Avenue
Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged at a home in the 1000 block of Fountain Square Drive.
Theft: Police arrested Jeffrey Shugart, 42, of Shetland Lane, Poland, on charges of theft, obstructing official business, possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia, and Drake Duvall, 60, of East Marion Avenue, Youngstown, on a Youngstown warrant for violation of a protection order.
Aug. 2
Drug offense: Police issued a summons to Trashaun Turner, 21, of Columbus, and Brandon Welks, 21, of Marmion Avenue, Youngstown, on charges of possession of marijuana.
Warrant: Police arrested Kathryn Sims, 26, of West 14th Street, Salem, on a warrant for failure to appear at an arraignment on a license-suspension citation.
Drug paraphernalia: Police issued a summons to Hailey Durig, 20, of Moore Street, Hubbard, on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.
HUBBARD
July 27
Theft: Jason R. Gross, 32, of Brookfield Road, Hubbard, faced a felony-theft charge when, police alleged, he admitted having stolen $1,621 worth of merchandise and money from O’Reilly Auto Parts, 840 W. Liberty St.
July 31
Drugs: After conducting a vehicle registration check on South Main Street, authorities charged 22-year-old Brandi L. Cottrell of Walter Street, Campbell, with possession of heroin, drugs, drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia, as well as 33-year-old Daniel L. Swab, same address, with marijuana possession and driving under suspension. Found were a bindle with suspected heroin powder, a bag of suspected marijuana, a syringe and a plastic bag containing Suboxone, an opioid commonly used to treat moderate to severe pain, a report showed.
Aug. 2
Burglary: To a residence in the 200 block of Princeton Avenue through a side door. At least $3,100 was stolen.
GIRARD
Aug. 3
Arrests: Police responding to a suspicious sport utility vehicle at Liberty Township Park charged a Girard girl, 17, with marijuana possession after alleging she admitted having a partially smoked marijuana cigarette on her person. Also, two other teens were cited for curfew violations; in addition, 19-year-old Michael S. McAllister of Girard was charged with trespassing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Criminal mischief: A North Avenue woman saw that someone had intentionally loosened an oil filter in her car.
Menacing: A woman told police another woman tried to goad the accuser to fight while in a parking lot at a West Broadway Avenue business.
Theft: A $200 dehumidifier was removed from a home in the 900 block of Beechwood Street.
Arrest: Police picked up 22-year-old Cody M. Kale as he was walking near Ella Street. Kale, of Washington Avenue, Girard, was accused of failing to appear in court to face a theft charge.
Aug. 4
Harassment: A Park Avenue woman said her estranged husband has been continually harassing her, including having driven his car toward the accuser, as if he intended to hit her.
Identity fraud: A Woodlawn Avenue man checking his account noticed three unauthorized online purchases totaling $442.57 had been made, including one from Madison, Wis.
Harassment: A Taylor Avenue woman told officers she’s received two days’ worth of such calls and text messages, including a message asking the accuser to send a photograph of herself.
Aug. 5
Theft: Forty prescription pills were stolen from a residence in the 100 block of West Howard Street.
LIBERTY
July 31
Aggravated menacing: A Church Hill-Hubbard Road woman reported a neighbor whom she had dated continues to make unwanted contact with her.
Theft: A Joann Lane man reported a dryer and a three-piece wrought-iron furniture set stolen from his home.
Arrest: Kevin W. Weaver of Union Ridge Road, Negley, was taken into custody at the Mahoning County jail. The 43-year-old Weaver was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.
Arrest: A traffic stop near Gypsy Lane led to the arrest of Ronald J. Major of Adams Street, Youngstown. Major, 56, was wanted on a probation-violation charge.
Drugs: While responding to possible drug activity at a Belmont Avenue motel, police charged Tina L. Perry of Belmont, Youngstown, with possession of drug-abuse instruments. The 44-year-old Perry had a hypodermic needle and a suspected crack-cocaine pipe, a report stated.
Arrest: Bobby L. Burkey IV, 29, of Woodworth Road, North Lima, was arrested after police said they found him hiding in a bedroom closet at a Green Acres Drive apartment. Burkey was wanted on a warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a larceny charge.
Aug. 1
Arrest: Officers answering a complaint about a man in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive who was outside in only a pair of undergarments charged 34-year-old Fletcha T. Weaver of Green Acres, Liberty, with disorderly conduct. Weaver also engaged in inappropriate conduct while dressed in that manner, authorities said.
Domestic violence: Rodney M. Wasmund, 21, of Green Acres Drive, Liberty, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged that during an argument, Wasmund had kicked her out of bed and punched her.
Felonious assault: Authorities responded to a 911 call from Fairlawn Avenue before charging 30-year-old Anthony J. Blackwell of North Park Avenue, Warren, with felonious assault, domestic violence and violating a protection order. Blackwell’s girlfriend, who was nine months pregnant, alleged that during an argument about their children, he had struck her multiple times in the face, kicked the accuser’s lower abdomen and legs and wrapped a blanket around her head, making it difficult for her to breathe.
Arrest: Tonia M. Haynes, 39, of Bennington Avenue, Youngstown, was taken into custody in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive. She was wanted on a Youngstown warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Assault: A woman alleged an 18-year-old woman had kicked her several times in the head and on her body while at a Hadley Avenue residence. The accuser suffered a deep cut under her left eye.
Arrest: Bruce J. Noble, 32, of Tibbetts-Wick Road, Girard, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired after police had pulled him over in the 3100 block of Belmont Avenue.
Drugs: After stopping a vehicle near Northgate Road, authorities charged 28-year-old Martina G. Lapolla of Langley Street, Niles, with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia when, they alleged, several syringes, a straw and spoons with burn marks common in drug use were found.
Aug. 2
Arrest: Lance B. Thompkins, 30, of Jersey City, N.J., was charged with operating a vehicle impaired after police responded to someone asleep in a car in the 4200 block of Belmont Avenue. Thompkins’ blood-alcohol count was 0.088, slightly above the legal limit, a report said.
Weapons: Robert R. McQuire, 31, of Edgar Street, Youngstown, faced charges of carrying a concealed weapon and aggravated menacing after having been pulled over near Church Hill Road. McQuire had two large hunting knives, one of which was unsheathed and that he held up toward an officer, a report showed.
Aug. 3
Arrests: A vehicle registration check on state Route 193 resulted in the arrests of 37-year-old Amy D. Kaminsky of North Belle Vista Avenue, Youngstown, and 52-year-old Gerald R. Brown of Sycamore Street, Youngstown. Kaminsky and Brown were wanted on warrants.
Recovered property: An officer found an abandoned 20-inch bicycle while on routine patrol in Church Hill Park off Belmont Avenue.
Aug. 4
Arrests: Boardman police handed to township authorities Jeremy Voytko, 22, of Arden Boulevard, Youngstown, and 31-year-old Alex Parent of Sierra Madre Trail, Boardman. Both were wanted on charges of failure to appear in court.
Drugs: Suspicious activity in the 1600 block of Motor Inn Drive caught the attention of officers, who charged 27-year-old Joseph F. Lombardi of Sharon-Bedford Road, West Middlesex, Pa., with possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia and drug-abuse instruments. A syringe, a used needle, a gum wrapper containing a substance consistent with heroin and a pipe for drug use were found, a report showed.
Assault: A Murray Hill Drive woman alleged her former boyfriend grabbed her wrist and forcibly removed a cellphone she was holding, then pushed her against the residence.
Drugs: While answering a shoplifting call at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, authorities charged Cassandra D. White, 24, of South Lewitt Street, Warren, with possession of dangerous drugs, as well as Dennis K. Kale, 25, of Washington Avenue, Girard, and Ashley M. Buskirk, 28, of Rosemont Avenue, Austintown, with possession of drug-abuse instruments. Found were a prescription bottle with part of the label missing, hypodermic needles in a sunglasses case and a spoon with suspected drug residue, police said.
Identity fraud: A Northgate Road woman learned that someone without authorization had opened an account in her name, from which 34 such transactions were made totaling $835.40.
Aug. 5
Damage: A vehicle at a Belmont Avenue motel was found with a broken windshield and one flat tire.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Marla Lane woman alleged her sister had taken and failed to return her 2005 Pontiac vehicle.
