Earned Eagle award

Kevin Yacucci, son of Sherry Yacucci of Austintown, has earned his Eagle Scout award as a member of Troop 115, chartered to St. Michael’s Church.

Yacucci began in Scouts as a Tiger Cub at Pack 84 at Austintown Community Church with Cub Master Scott Cochran. As a Cub Scout, he earned an Arrow of Light award, and then became a member of Boy Scout Troop 115.

He has earned 35 merit badges and the Tote ‘N’ Chip and Fire ‘N’ Chit. Among his troop positions have been patrol leader, webmaster and librarian.

Yacucci has attended summer camp at Beaumont Scout Reservation for the past six years. He was elected to the Order of the Arrow and became a Brotherhood member of Wapashuwi Lodge 56, Scouting’s National Honor Society. In 2013, he completed the National Youth Leadership Training program.

For his Eagle service project, Yacucci planned, procured funds and organized volunteer workers to complete the removal of overgrown shrubbery and a tree that blocked the church sign at Wickliffe Presbyterian Church. He and his volunteers installed appropriate landscaping around the church sign, and also put in a new mailbox and cigarette depository at the front of the church.

Yacucci is a senior at Austintown Fitch High School, where he participates in the FalcoTech 3193 Robotics team, in which he lettered. He also has participated in Academic Challenge, RDE (Reading, Discussion and Enrichment), English Festival, chess club, Math Counts program, one year in choir and two creative writing awards, Drama Club tech team and German club. He also has participated in the YSU Summer Honors Institute for the past two summers.

He is a member of Wickliffe Presbyterian Church.
