Barnes and Noble hosted a weekly Little Listeners story time with Laura Frey on July 14.
Krystyna Williams brought two of her children for the story time. She said it was their second time there and she has already started to incorporate it into her schedule.
“It’s nice that it’s free,” Williams said. “We do this, we go to the park and we get cheap lunch.”
Williams said she liked being able to come and look at the books while her children get to enjoy the story.
“Little Listeners is really nice — you get to look at the different books you don’t have at home,” Williams said.
Mary Petrony brought her son Matthew, the second of her two children to participate in Little Listeners.
Petrony said she first started coming with her older son and now brings her younger son because it was such a positive experience.
“He [her older son] already reads really well on his own,” Petrony said. “It’s probably from coming here.”
Williams said she also liked that Little Listeners helped reading skills, even if the children already knew how to read.
“I like that it’s all ages,” Williams said. “My kids are 5 and 7 and you feel like they’re almost too old for some of the little kid things, but they still fit in here and have fun even though my 7 year old can read the books.”
Williams said her older child still enjoys things like these and having someone tell the story – especially Laura.
“She’s really good,” Williams said. “She’s really animated, they’re [the children] upbeat here and in the story.”
