Math superhero and number doctor Paul Adams got everyone’s math senses tingling at the Superhero Math Show at the Austintown library on July 14.

Adams hosts magic shows incorporating tricks, games and jokes to get students excited about learning and using math both in school and at home.

Jo Nolfi, director of programming for the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, scheduled this event and said she was excited to see its turnout.

“His [Adams] show is magic and activities that relate to math,” Nolfi said. “It makes math understandable in a simple fun way for kids.”

Adams began by getting the children to see that fun games and everyday tasks are math.

He amazed the audience with his humor and interactive activities.

“Card tricks are math!” Adams said.

Captain Superdog made a guest appearance, telling jokes and enacting his superpower on everyone in the room — making them his best friends.

Libarian Starr Jones reminded students that this special event was part of the Summer Discovery Program to ensure they marked it off their list of items to complete.
