July 29

Counterfeit: Six phony $50 bills were passed at Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

Criminal mischief: A Youngstown woman in the 300 block of Boardman-Canfield Road saw that a hair weave had been stuffed into her car’s tail pipe.

Theft: A pair of $250 sunglasses was stolen from Sunglass Hut in Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s reportedly switched the sales tag on an outdoor grill at Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Burglary: Took place at an apartment in the 7500 block of Oregon Trail through a window. Stolen were a laptop computer and a charger.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 4000 block of Hopkins Road, then removed a weed trimmer and a 12-foot extension ladder.

Theft: Two men reportedly bought a gift card at Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road, with six fake $50 bills.

Possible theft: An official with the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall discovered an iPod unit used to check inventory and adjust prices was lost or stolen.

July 30

Theft: River G. Travis, 21, of Elm Road, Warren, was charged with stealing clothing from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Arrest: A traffic stop on Glenwood Avenue resulted in a felony charge of operating a vehicle impaired against 74-year-old Robert T. Rowney of Ewing Road, Boardman. Rowney, who had a blood-alcohol count of 0.143, also has had three OVI convictions in a six-year period, a report said.

Theft: Police charged 19-year-old Jasmine M. Jackson, who listed Youngstown addresses on West Judson and Hilton avenues, in the theft of $50 worth of cosmetics from Walmart.

Domestic violence: Colton J. Harley, 23, of Bonnie Place, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged Harley had thrown a mattress and a box spring off a bed while she was on it, causing the accuser to strike her head on a wall, then pushed her onto a couch.

Theft: Shakaila J. Jones, 26, of Linwood Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing 28 items valued at $192, including clothing, from Walmart.

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 7400 block of West Boulevard used a key to damage a car’s driver’s-side finish.

Theft: A Youngstown woman noticed her $79 phone missing while at a Boardman-Canfield Road bank.

Aggravated menacing: A worker for a Market Street discount store told police an irate customer threatened to return with a gun, evidently as part of a dispute regarding the way his credit card had been swiped earlier.

Theft: A small amount of change was removed from a car in the 100 block of Redwood Trail.

Theft/criminal damaging: Someone in the 1400 block of Barbie Drive broke a vehicle’s window and took property that included a $500 pair of prescription sunglasses and a set of iPhone headphones.

Theft: A boy, 15, and a girl, 17, both of Boardman, and a 17-year-old Youngstown girl, were charged with stealing clothing, snack items and a cellphone case from Walmart. Also, 20-year-old Chantaz L.I. Brown of Pasadena Avenue, Youngstown, faced three counts each of complicity to theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Theft: A Warren woman reported two bathing suits missing while at a Market Street motel.

Theft/vandalism: Someone used a golf ball to break two windows at a Youngstown-Poland Road counseling center. Also, three “Private property” signs were stolen.

July 31

Attempted theft by deception: An Erskine Avenue man reported a caller claiming to be his grandson was in jail and needed $500 sent to him via money cards. The man became suspicious, however, and notified authorities.

Menacing: A South Avenue man said he’s received threatening calls and text messages regarding money owed to another person.

Theft: A set of Ohio license plates was removed from a car in the 4200 block of Hopkins Road.

Criminal damaging: A window sustained $200 in damage at an apartment in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court.

Drugs: Officers responding to a suspicious vehicle on Bonnie Place charged 29-year-old LaDonna M. Taylor with drug possession after saying 12 pills were found in a plastic bag. Taylor, of Hunter Avenue, Youngstown, also was wanted on a Niles warrant charging theft.

Theft: Police in Youngstown picked up Autumn T. James, who listed addresses on Laurelwood Drive in Warren and Mackey Street in Hubbard. The 27-year-old James was accused of stealing about $270 worth of clothing July 14 from Dillard’s in Southern Park Mall.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s passenger-side finish was scratched numerous times in the 6300 block of South Avenue. Damage was estimated at $300.

Aggravated menacing: Three people in the 4100 block of South Avenue reported having been threatened, including one person with a stun gun and another with pepper spray.

Theft: Tyrasia D. Riley, 19, of Rogers Road, Youngstown, and 31-year-old Toya D. Scott of Erie Street, Boardman, were accused of stealing $721 worth of clothing and toiletries from Walmart.

Aug. 1

Breaking and entering: Someone entered three vacant apartments in the 7500 block of Oregon Trail, though nothing appeared to be missing and police found no signs of forced entry.

Identity fraud: The owner of a Boardman-Canfield Road business told police a man claiming to represent a communications company pressured her into providing her personal information, including her Social Security number.

Domestic violence: Julius B. Coker, 25, of Philadelphia, was charged after his husband, of Lockwood Boulevard, alleged that during an argument, Coker had spit on the accuser and repeatedly punched him.

Arrest: Chad M. Campagna of Sugar Bush Drive, East Palestine, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired after police had pulled him over near Afton Avenue. The 24-year-old Campagna’s blood-alcohol count was 0.137, a report showed.

Assault: Adam S. Haren, 35, of Applecrest Court, Boardman, faced a simple-assault charge after a neighbor alleged that while setting up a barbecue grill, Haren punched her arm and threw a rock at her during an argument that apparently started when he felt the accuser had placed the grill too close to an apartment building.

Domestic violence: Police at the Mahoning County jail booked Tyler G. Dugan, 22, of Forest Park Place, Boardman, on a warrant related to a May 19 situation in which his girlfriend alleged Dugan had grabbed her arm and slapped her face during an argument regarding his cellphone.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Tele Gold, 8051 Market St., and stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry.

Aug. 2

Drugs: Police arrested 21-year-old Cody L. Hartman of Oregon Trail, Boardman, on two counts of drug abuse and one each of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug-abuse instruments after having responded to an overdose at a West Boulevard apartment. Found were a bottle with a different type of pill, two needles, a spoon with burn marks common in drug use, a syringe and a device used to grind marijuana, a report said.

Animal cruelty: Police received a complaint about a dog in distress while alone in a hot car in the 600 block of Boardman-Canfield Road. Officials with Animal Charity Humane Society took custody of the animal.

Domestic violence: Officers on Windham Court took into custody 29-year-old Marchello D. Stokes of Maywood Drive, Boardman, who was wanted on a Youngstown warrant.

Theft: A customer left Michael Alberini’s Restaurant, 1140 Boardman-Canfield Road, without paying a $52.50 food bill.

Theft: A Homestead Drive woman alleged a neighbor has used plastic milk jugs to steal water from her outside faucet.

Drugs: During a traffic stop on Midlothian Boulevard, 23-year-old Robert G. Hayden III of Carriage Lane, Canfield, was charged with one count each of possession of heroin, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and drug-abuse instruments when, police alleged, he admitted having suspected heroin in a piece of plastic wrap. Also found was suspected marijuana in a wallet, as well as a suspected marijuana pipe, a report stated.

Aug. 3

Menacing: An Annawan Lane woman alleged a neighbor made in implied threat pertaining to a disagreement about a dog.

Burglary: To a garage in the 1100 block of Madonda Street, from which a 21-inch lawn mower and two gas cans were taken.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 100 block of Erskine Avenue was found with a damaged tire.

Misuse of a credit card: A Southwestern Run Drive found three unauthorized charges totaling roughly $140 on his credit-card statement.

Misuse of a credit card: Kimberley J. Laprocina, 53, of Gilmer Road, Leavittsburg, surrendered on a misdemeanor charge after a Poland man discovered his debit card had been used without authorization to pay a $114 bill at the Sprint Store, 430 Boardman-Poland Road.

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 100 block of Erskine Avenue slashed a vehicle’s tire and did $175 in damage.

Identity fraud: An employee with a business in the 7800 block of South Avenue discovered a fraudulent $2,073 order that originated in Monroe, Wis.
